What I've learned since moving to D.C. (some of which should be obvious): 0141

7001.  You’re not truly in Toronto until you hear Drake;
7002.  They do play a lot of Drake in Toronto;
7003.  Pizza Pizza (PizzaPizza.ca) reminds me a little of Pizza Hut (. . . , but not as greasy);
7004.  I can say I’ve been (out) clubbing with (Toronto) Barbie;
7005.  I can also say I’ve been to a Korean spa/sauna with (Toronto) Barbie;
7006.  It’s a washroom not a restroom/bathroom in Canada;
7007.  Canadian Thanksgiving is on Columbus Day;
7008.  The time it takes your assumption to become fact, your desire to be fulfilled, is directly proportionate to the naturalness of your feeling of already being what you want to be, of already having what you desire;
7009.  The fact that it does not feel natural to you to be what you imagine yourself to be is the secret of your failure.  Regardless of your desire, regardless of how faithfully and intelligently you follow the law, if you do not feel natural about what you want to be, you will not be it;
7010.  The essential feeling of naturalness can be achieved by persistently filling your consciousness with imagination, imagining yourself being what you want to be or having what you desire;
7011.  The time it takes your assumption to become reality is proportionate to the naturalness of being it;
7012.  It’s actually rare to desire what simply feels unnatural.  If being healthy, prosperous, happy, successful, strong, intelligent and so on feel unnatural then naturalness may be achieved by persistently using your imagination and your subjective attention to make this feeling stick;
7013.  Whatever it is that you want to manifest for yourself, do not be afraid to place it into your imagination, assume the feeling of that wish fulfilled and, by all means, make it feel as natural as possible;
7014.  Move your highest dreams to a rightful natural place in your imagination and then do as Ralph Waldo Emerson advised, “Build, therefore, your own world.  As fast as you conform your life to the pure idea in your mind, that will unfold its great proportions;”
7015.  You are never given the power to dream without the equivalent power to manifest that dream and make it your physical reality;
7016.  When you place an intention in your imagination, do not allow a question mark at the end of your pronouncement.  See your statement ending in a grammatical exclamation point.  “I bring this into my reality!” is easy to say if you’re already living from that declaration in your imagination and have assumed the feeling in your body of that wish being fulfilled;
7017.  The more attention you give your body, the more it is the master and the more it will demand and keep demanding from you;
7018.  You can positively produce whatever you want in your body if you will fix your attention upon the perfection of it, but do not let your attention rest on its imperfections;
7019.  Ego is edging God out;
7020.  You never draw out of the deep of yourself that which you want; you always draw that which you are and you are that which you feel yourself to be as well as that which you feel is true of others;
7021.  Be appreciative of what you already have;
7022.  Whenever you are thinking about yourself, fear will take over.  Whenever you are thinking about others and helping, your heart will take over.  (And) when your heart takes over you don’t have to worry about enthusiasm and feeling good.  It’ll come naturally;
7023.  Strive for progress not perfection;
7024.  It’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters;
7025.  When in doubt, let kindness and compassion guide you.  And don’t be afraid to fail;
7026.  (Dr.) Lonnie Johnson invented the “Super Soaker” and the “Nerf N-Strike” toys;
7027.  Comparing yourself to others doesn’t help you improve yourself or make your life better in any way.  It just fills you with negative feelings and steals time and energy from you that you could have devoted to something far more useful and productive;
7028.  Comparison is the thief of joy;
7029.  Comparison is the fast track to misery;
7030.  Comparing yourself to others: 1.  Focus on your own inner needs first; 2.  Focus on what you do have (i.e., Law of Replacement); and 3.  Remember that social media never tells the whole story;
7031.  Nothing in your life will change for the better until you do;
7032.  ParkMobile charges a ($.45) transaction fee . . . annoying;
7033.  (The) girlfriend’s (old) room at her parents’ house . . . check;
7034.  (Weight) lifting gloves make decent construction/work gloves;
7035.  I can say (that) I’ve dug (fence) postholes;
7036.  When you’re digging postholes, leave the (excavated) dirt close by . . . you’re going to use it for backfill;
7037.  I can say (that) I’ve poured concrete;
7038.  I can say (that) I’ve set fence posts;
7039.  (The) girlfriend’s (old, squeaky) bed at her parents’ house . . . check;
7040.  Apparently, there’s no need to stiffen your lower back/waist when you’re on the floor;
7041.  I can say (that) I’ve helped plane wood;
7042.  I can say (that) I’ve helped mill wood;
7043.  I can add to the résumé carpenter’s apprentice/assistant;
7044.  Elizabeth likes bread pudding;
7045.  On October 16th, 2018, I found out maybe I’m not going to be a dad/father (. . . and I cried);
7046.  Apparently, a woman’s chance for (a) miscarriage is 33% at 40 (years-old);
7047.  (I think) I don’t want to be a father/dad because I had such a miserable childhood and I don’t want someone else to go through the same thing. . . . It’s also a big (and long-lasting) responsibility. . . . (I think) I’m also afraid that I’d be a bad father/dad.  I didn’t (exactly) have the best role model and neither did my father/dad;
7048.  Debbi Morgan (the actress) lives in Prince George’s County, Maryland;
7049.  Roasted kale is so good;
7050.  Roasted beets, kale and apples are a good combination;

What I've learned since moving to D.C. (some of which should be obvious): 0140

6951.  Everything you eat impacts your ability to facilitate the healing that your body craves;
6952.  To attract appropriate and healthy prosperity or abundance into your life, you need to place all of your attention on what that feels like.  You need to be able to feel what that is like even before it materializes to your satisfaction.  By feeling those pleasant sensations in your body, you reprogram your segment of the subconscious mind to harmonize with the infinitely prosperous universal subconscious mind where all manifestation originates;
6953.  Wanting to attract more prosperity into your life is equivalent to sending the message of I am not.  As long as this is your conscious thought, you are unwittingly programming your subconscious mind to offer you experiences that match your feeling.  I am not projects a state of lack;
6954.  Happiness isn’t some thing in the material world that can be acquired and stored and used when needed or wanted.  Happiness is an attitude that comes from within you.  It’s accessible when you place in your imagination an I am statement that reflects your attunement with the simple truth that happiness is indeed an inside job.  Happiness is an inner belief that you bring to everyone and everything you undertake rather than expecting your happiness to come to you from others or from your accomplishments and acquisitions.  There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way;
6955.  State your intention to live a happy, contented life; place it squarely in the most prominent place within your imagination and live from that place as if it were your reality;
6956.  Your subconscious mind handles about 96 percent of all that you undertake in your life;
6957.  You train your subconscious mind to act automatically once the conscious mind is no longer needed;
6958.  Sleep is the time when your conscious mind leaves the world of your five senses and joins in with your subconscious mind;
6959.  The last five minutes of your day before you enter into your sleep state are the most important five minutes of your day if you are going to begin living a wishes fulfilled life.  In this brief portion of your day, you are going to tell your subconscious mind how you feel and what wishes to fulfill upon awakening from your deep slumber.  This five-minute segment of time in your bed, about to enter into your subconscious and marinate for the next eight hours or so, is the most crucial segment of your entire 24-hour day;
6960.  Your subconscious mind is indifferent to what you want or what is best for you.  It cannot make a distinction between what you are feeling as a result of all that happens to you throughout your waking hours or what you feel as a result of what you are imagining for yourself as having already transpired while you are in bed preparing to doze off to sleep;
6961.  By assuming the feeling of what you don’t wish for and then going to sleep with those thoughts in your mind, you are programming your subconscious mind to take over, just as it did when you were first learning to drive.  The difference is that then you were creating what you desired and now you are using the same strategy to attract what you do not desire.  And this is why you so often fail to attract the ideal in your life;
6962.  Whatever you have in consciousness as you go to sleep is the measure of your expression in the waking two-thirds of your life on earth.  Nothing stops you from realizing your objective, save your failure to feel that you are already that which you wish to be or that you are already in possession of the thing sought.  Your subconscious gives form to your desires only when you feel your wish fulfilled;
6963.  As you lie in bed, feeling drowsy and knowing that you are about to go to sleep, where your subconscious mind is most at home, use these final pre-slumber moments to align with your source of being and become a wishes fulfilled spiritual being.  In these pre-sleep moments, you can program your subconscious mind to automatically present you with fulfilled wishes;
6964.  The feeling which comes in response to the question, “How would I feel were my wish realized?” is the feeling which should monopolize and immobilize your attention as you relax into sleep.  You must be in the consciousness of being or having that which you want to be or to have before you drop off to sleep;
6965.  If my wishes were realized, how would it feel right here right now in my body?  Stay with that thought until you begin to feel your body shift into what that feels like.  This is not an empty exercise.  It is a programming tool for re-teaching your subconscious mind to act on what you intend to manifest rather than on what you are worried, angry or fearful about.  In this semi-somnolent state, go to the I am that you are now putting into your imagination;
6966.  The natural state of your subconscious is sleep and it sees you as you believe yourself to be.  It matters not to the habitual mind of yours whether what you believe and consequently feel in your body is harmful, moral, good, bad or indifferent.  It will faithfully take on your belief and provide you with an array of experiences and seemingly synchronistic events that give form to what you believe and have placed into the programming of your subconscious mind;
6967.  You want to enter your sleep with reminders to your subconscious to automatically fulfill your life-enhancing wishes;
6968.  In reality, the subconscious is an emotionless database of stored programs, whose function is strictly concerned with reading environmental signals and engaging in hardwired behavioral programs, no questions asked, no judgments made.  The subconscious mind is a programmable “hard drive” into which our life experiences are downloaded;
6969.  Never to go to sleep with negative thoughts in your mind for they will destroy all the good you may have gained during the day;
6970.  In your dream state, you are able to create anything that you desire simply by using your powers of thought to make it happen;
6971.  All you need do is place the idea into your sleepy imagination, feel it in your body (i.e., your heart rate goes up, your breathing increases and you are feeling the joy in your smile) and voilà!  There it is.  It is all very real and all you had to do was have the thought, live from the end and feel it. Your subconscious mind, now fully connected has allowed you to participate in the true art of manifestation;
6972.  Sleep is the door through which the conscious, waking mind passes to be creatively joined to the subconscious.  Sleep conceals the creative act while the objective world reveals it.  In sleep, man impresses the subconscious with his conception of himself;
6973.  As you lie in bed preparing for your nightly slumber, remember that the last thought you have in your mind can last up to four hours in your subconscious mind.  That’s four hours of programming from just one moment of contemplation prior to going into your unconscious state.  Create a reminder like a prayer or mantra to place by your bed.  Write these words and read them as you get comfortable: I am going to use these moments to review what I intend to manifest into my life.  Keep that sign there to remind you how to spend your pre-sleep moments nightly;
6974.  “I am” the Governing Presence, governing in Perfect Divine Order, commanding Harmony, Happiness and the Presence of God’s Opulence in my mind, my home and my world;
6975.  If before dropping off to sleep you are assailed by worry, distress or fear, do not stay in bed.  Get up, turn on the light, take a few deep breaths, read from a spiritual text, meditate for a few moments in front of a white candle, say a prayer, do anything other than staying there lying down;
6976.  Stop valuing hard work for the sake of hard work;
6977.  You don’t have to be wealthy to invest, but you do have to invest to be wealthy;
6978.  Invest in yourself, invest in your mindset and invest in things that will pay you over and over again in either more time or more money;
6979.  Banks typically will not lend at less than 1.2 or 1.3 times the debt service coverage ratio (“DSCR”);
6980.  Hard costs, often referred to as “brick-and-mortar costs,” encompass the actual physical construction of real estate development.  These costs cover the material and labor that go into property development.  Some examples of material hard costs include cement, drywall, carpet and sod grass.  Labor hard costs can include things like grading, site excavation, landscaping and carpentry.  Hard costs can vary widely by market and tend to be most expensive in the northeast region of the U.S. and less so in the southeast;
6981.  Soft construction costs are fees incurred in the construction of a building that are not directly related to labor and physical building materials.  Typical soft costs include architecture, engineering, inspection and accounting fees.  Permits, taxes and legal fees also fall into the category of soft costs.  Unlike hard costs, soft costs can also include expenses that continue even after a project is completed.  This can include building and property maintenance, insurance and security among other ongoing fees related to the upkeep of an asset;
6982.  LEED certification can affect hard costs, usually contributing an additional 2% to hard construction costs and roughly $150,000.00 in soft costs depending on the scale of the project;
6983.  Hickey . . . check;
6894.  Apparently, Braden Holtby (of the Washington Capitals) is a Julie Keaten-Reed (JulieKeatenReed.com) fan;
6985.  Apparently, Devon (Grassi) (sometimes) hangs out at Don Taco in (Old Town) Alexandria with her coworkers;
6986.  On September 27th, 2018, I found out I’m going to be a dad/father. . . . I hadn’t planned on that happening. . . . I’m scared shitless;
6987.  Using the rhythm method as a form of birth control doesn’t pose any direct risks.  However, it’s considered one of the least effective forms of birth control.  How well the rhythm method works varies between couples.  In general, as many as 24 out of 100 women who use natural family planning for birth control become pregnant the first year.  Also, the rhythm method doesn’t protect you from sexually transmitted infections;
6988.  Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage;
6989.  Success can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations we are willing to have and by the number of uncomfortable actions we are willing to take;
6990.  The most fulfilled and effective people look at their life’s journey as perhaps 25 percent finding themselves and 75 percent creating themselves;
6991.  You are the author of your own life and it’s never too late to replace the stories you tell yourself and the world.  It’s never too late to begin a new chapter, add a surprise twist or change genres entirely;
6992.  What would it look like if it were easy?
6993.  Endings don’t have to be failures, especially when you choose to end a project or shut down a business. . . . Even the best gigs don’t last forever, nor should they;
6994.  The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page;
6995.  They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: Something to do, someone to love and something to hope for;
6996.  I have no future.  I have no past.  My goal is to make the present last.  I’m right here, right now;
6997.  Don’t bring a kid to an adults-only, Patent and Trademark Office Society event;
6998.  Going to a concert with the girlfriend . . . check;
6999.  Liz Phair’s favorite venue may be the 9:30 Club in D.C.;
7000.  Your new life is going to cost you your old one;

What I've learned since moving to D.C. (some of which should be obvious): 0139

6901.  Feeling any state you wish to achieve is the experience that impresses it on the subconscious;
6902.  The subconscious is the womb of creation.  It receives the idea unto itself through the feelings of man.  It never changes the idea received, but always gives it form;
6903.  Your feelings determine your reality because they’re impressed on the subconscious;
6904.  If you put the seed of failure into the subconscious and feed it with feeling that way, it will reproduce failure.  If you plant the seed of disease into your subconscious mind by feeling this way in your body, it will augment disease for you.  If you plant the seed of misery into your subconscious mind by feeling miserable, it will cultivate and produce misery for you;
6905.  Whatever you wish to manifest, associate a feeling of love with it and impress that feeling on the universal subconscious mind and it will do the rest;
6906.  If you seek on the outside that which you are unwilling or unable to feel on the inside, you are seeking in vain.  You attain that which you are not simply what you want;
6907.  When you choose to feel good, you are choosing to feel your highest self, the oneness that is called both good and God;
6908.  I intend to feel good, I intend to feel love;
6909.  Don’t dwell on your troubles, difficulties or illnesses.  The subconscious mind by its very nonselective nature accepts all your feelings associated with troubles as your request and, worst of all, proceeds to make them your experience in the world of your material reality;
6910.  Unexpected psychological events, such as the breakup of a marriage, a financial crisis or the death of a loved one, create reactions in the brain that trigger physical responses in the body that are designed to assist the body in dealing with the conflict.  The body continues to assist until the conflict is resolved and then it goes into a healing phase to get back to its natural state of well-being.  During this healing phase the body may utilize swelling, inflammation, fatigue and an elevated white-blood-cell count as part of the healing process;
6911.  When you experience anger, frustration, fear, doubt, worry, stress and so on, ramp up your love and immerse those negative feelings in a container of pure love.  Simply choose to feel good because every moment of offering love brings your little sliver of subconscious mind into harmony with the all-creating one universal subconscious mind that is defined as love;
6912.  Practice feeling a thought that you have inserted into your imagination.  Remember that a feeling is what you feel in your body as you contemplate what it is you wish to manifest or who you would like to become.  Close your eyes and experience what that feels like in your body.  Work with sensations that are not only your experience of what you are imagining in your body, but are triggers that assist you in moving from a thought to a hardened physical reality;
6913.  Whatever feeling you are attempting to notice in your body regarding your wishes or desire, bathe it in love, the synonym for God.  Imagine what you want.  Imagine and feel that love as if you were now in possession of it.  Continue doing this using love until your desire actually belongs to you.  During this process remind yourself that the more love (God) you offer, the sooner desire becomes reality.  Look into your mirror fearlessly, saying, I not only love you, I am love;
6914.  The more thoughts and actions you practice around your new I am, the more the subconscious mind will react in kind until eventually it will act in generous ways out of a new habit that you’ve created.  You have the power to impress upon the subconscious mind any I am of your choosing;
6915.  Your thoughts create your reality because your thoughts determine how you respond to situations in your daily life;
6916.  Addictions of every description are vehicles that people board in order to get someplace higher, more pleasurable, more peaceful, more tuned in and turned on, etc.;
6917.  Love cures the ones who receive love and the ones who give it too.  In transcending your addictive habits, you have the opportunity to be both the giver and the receiver of love;
6918.  A craving is never just a craving.  A craving is a signal that something’s missing.  An urge to restart old, destructive habits is always, always a sign;
6919.  If you can’t seem to do what’s good for you then maybe you don’t think you deserve what’s good.  If you feel compelled to hurt yourself maybe you think you deserve to be hurt;
6920.  Perfection is the enemy of excellence;
6921.  If you’re not willing to fail sometimes then you won’t ever really stretch yourself.  You’ll stay in your comfort zone of things you can already do without error.  And if you don’t stretch yourself with an inbuilt willingness for that process to be messy and imperfect then you will never actually improve.  You have to let go of being perfect in order to embrace the path to excellence;
6922.  The (space) shuttle is really an orbiter;
6923.  Yuri Gagarin was the first human in space as well as the first human in orbit;
6924.  The SR-71 (“Blackbird”) flies faster than a bullet . . . and it can reach Mach 3.3 (i.e., 2,200 mph);
6925.  Rumor has it that the CIA procured (the) titanium for the SR-71 (program) from the Soviet Union using shell companies/corporations claiming they wanted it for pizza ovens;
6926.  The “Enola Gay” was built by the (Glenn L.) Martin Company in Omaha, Nebraska;
6927.  (Colonel) Paul Tibbets (i.e., its first pilot) named the “Enola Gay” after his mother;
6928.  The Concorde was limited to Mach 2(.04) because it was made from aluminum;
6929.  There were only 20 Concordes made;
6930.  The Concorde had a(n) cruising/operational altitude of 60,000 feet;
6931.  Sex in the bathroom at a (friend’s) birthday/house party . . . check;
6932.  The pumpkin cake roll (with cream cheese filling) at ALDI is so good;
6933.  If you have a craving for a “Kinder Bueno” chocolate bar and there aren’t any readily available, a “Knoppers” milk, hazelnut wafer is a pretty good substitute;
6934.  According to the Stock Trader’s Almanac, September is historically the worst month for both the Dow (Jones Industrial Average) and the S&P 500 (Index),
6935.  A recession is when a country experiences two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by its GDP;
6936.  Water the roots not the leaves. . . . When the roots of the tree are unstable, watering the leaves is not going to make much of a difference.  It will fall over anyway;
6937.  Our underlying programming (in our subconscious minds) affects a million little choices and decisions that all add up to us playing out the exact script of our beliefs;
6938.  Ultimately, it’s our limiting beliefs that thwart or undo our best efforts to succeed.  And that keeps us small;
6939.  If we believe that we are “not enough” just the way that we are then we will constantly be trying to fill that hole or compensate for that sense of inadequacy.  Maybe with material things.  Maybe with achievements.  Maybe by pleasing others.  There are a lot of ways we do this, all of which are doomed to fail.  Unless we heal that fundamental wound, no matter what strategies we use to compensate for it, they will never be enough.  The belief in “not enough” (just) begets more “not enough;”
6940.  Judging yourself for carrying limiting or faulty beliefs is like blaming a patient for being sick.  It doesn’t help.  What does help is to focus on healing your (deep) inner wounds and limiting beliefs;
6941.  Apparently, a “MED” BC is a base curve of 8.7 (at least for CooperVision contact lens);
6942.  Your imagination is able to do all that you ask in proportion to the degree of your attention;
6943.  All progress, all fulfillment of desire, depends upon the control and concentration of your attention;
6944.  Do not give attention to what others do or fail to do; give attention to what you do or fail to do;
6945.  When you think, choose carefully the thoughts of things you’d like to be.  The thoughts entertained in the minds of men become tomorrow’s objectified whims;
6946.  Everything that you materialize into this objectified physical reality is really nothing more than a whim, but in order to experience it as your reality, though it is but an illusion, since all is continuously changing, it must come from the subjective thoughts that you and, only you, must choose very carefully;
6947.  You want to decide to live from the end you’re wishing for, not toward an end that others have decided for you;
6948.  Your subjective attention is unrelated to what you have conditioned your subconscious mind to believe to be your reality as indicated by what your five senses so convincingly tell you;
6949.  Redirect your attention away from debates aimed at disputing or convincing an external attitude and toward placing your attention on the feeling of the wish fulfilled.  The outcome depends on your inner attitude, your subjective attention;
6950.  Develop a healthy attitude toward your highest self and, all that it beckons you to be, by redirecting a habit of being influenced by outer objective factors to trusting your ability to choose subjective attention and focusing on inner rather than outer directives;
