What I've learned since moving to D.C. (some of which should be obvious): 0229

11401.  Sometimes life requires us to be agile in the part of ourselves we are selecting.  To move beyond “self.”  Our relationships are a sacred learning ground; a place to fall and get back up, time and time again;

11402.  Maybe today is an opportunity for a positive interaction where there may be a pattern for a negative one;

11403.  Maybe your gift for your loved one today is the gift of your state; one that is loving and passionate;

11404.  Maybe this is an opening for your words or actions to be a healing balm to another human who is struggling;

11405.  Maybe this is an opportunity for you to release and soften and to say “yes” to the possibility of welcoming love into your life;

11406.  No matter the situation, there is always room for love.  That’s experiencing this life at a higher level.  That’s spiritual growth.  And that’s how we heal the world;

11407.  Bob Marley died from acral lentiginous melanoma, a form of skin cancer, at the age of 36;

11408.  (Putting) olive oil in coffee(, specifically Starbucks’ Oleato); I don’t get it;

11409.  Apparently, Jodie Foster was offered the part/role of Princess Leia in (the original) Star Wars(: Episode IV – A New Hope).  She turned it down because she had a scheduling conflict with a Disney movie she had already signed a contract for;

11410.  We each have a unique past and a unique way forward;

11411.  There is no one “right” path only the “right” path for you at this moment;

11412.  When you discover the value of your journey past and future, you no longer need to measure yourself against others and you can recognize your worth;

11413.  Locate and celebrate your individuality;

11414.  You’re empowered to be you and nobody can beat you at being you;

11415.  If you aren’t trying to be anybody but yourself, it is impossible to be an impostor;

11416.  When we strive to be like someone else, we might even do a pretty good job of it, but, as long as we are trying to imitate someone else, we are lessening our power;

11417.  If you don’t realize you’re a masterpiece; that you have something to offer that nobody else has, you limit yourself;

11418.  Yet another byproduct of being yourself is that it frees you to truly celebrate others;

11419.  (To me,) Dave Stewart (playing guitar) without Annie Lennox singing is just an Eurythmics cover band;

11420.  Bryan Adams (the singer) hasn’t aged much;

11421.  According to his ex(-girlfriend), Cecilie Thomsen, Bryan Adams had an affair with Princess Diana;

11422.  The lavender crème Frappuccino and the lavender cream oat milk matcha at Starbucks are (pretty) tasty;

11423.  Apparently, toilet paper is a deodorizer. . . . Refrigerators can develop excess moisture and mildew, creating a gross smell.  Storing toilet paper in the refrigerator is a helpful way of cutting through unpleasant food odors.  Placing a roll in the back (of the refrigerator) for up to 3 weeks will help soak up any moisture in the air and deodorize it . . . or you could just place an opened box of baking soda in the back of the refrigerator;

11424.  Alexander Ovechkin and Auston Matthews share the same birthday (i.e., September 17);

11425.  T(imothy )J(imothy) Oshie is the 390th player in NHL history to play/skate in a 1,000 games;

11426.  Mckenna Grace (playing Phoebe Spengler) in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” reminds me of a young Natalie Portman;

11427.  John Carlson is the 392nd player and the 128th defenseman in NHL history to play/skate in a 1,000 games;

11428.  The first NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament was played in 1939. . . . It had 8 teams;

11429.  Oregon is the first NCAA (Division I men’s basketball) tournament champion, beating Ohio State for the title;

11430.  The NCAA (Division I men’s basketball) tournament field grew to 16 teams in 1951, doubled to 32 in 1975 and expanded to its current size of 64 teams in 1985.  The opening-round game was introduced in 2001.  Three more games were added to that round in 2011;

11431.  The freedom to say “no.”  What is more powerful than the ability to say “no?” . . . What about money?  You don’t need endless money; just enough to be able to say “no” to what you want to say “no” to.  That amount is different for each person.  That’s what so many people on this earth want; the ability to say “no” to things they don’t want and “yes” to the things they do want;

11432.  Dunk your Oreos in coffee; thank me later;

11433.  For a relationship to stay alive, love alone is not enough.  Without imagination, love stales into sentiment, duty and boredom.  Relationships fail not because we have stopped loving, but because we first stopped imagining;

11434.  Evgeni Malkin (of the Pittsburgh Penguins) can still fly around the ice;

11435.  The Smithsonian Institution is named after its founding donor, British chemist and mineralogist James Smithson;

11436.  The AB+ blood type is known as the “universal recipient” because AB+ patients can receive red blood cells from all blood types;

11437.  Plasma transfusions are matched to avoid A and B antibodies in the transfused plasma that will attack the recipient’s red blood cells.  People with type AB+ blood are universal plasma donors.  Their plasma does not contain A or B antibodies and can be transfused safely to all blood types;

11438.  You can use a (toilet) plunger to unclog your (bathroom) sink.  Just remember to cover/plug the overflow hole.  If you don’t, water will shoot out and you’ll make a (big) mess;

11439.  Dolphins lose their hair before they are born;

11440.  Apparently, lobsters can live for over 100 years;

11441.  Ralph Sampson eats at Whiskey & Oyster in (Old Town) Alexandria;
